Mississippi River slips above flood stage
Around 11 p.m. Thursday, the Mississippi River at Vicksburg slipped above flood stage for the first time in 2020, moving past 43 feet.
As of 7 a.m. Friday, the level was at 43.09, an increase of more than a half a foot in the past 24 hours.
The river is forecast to continue rising through the month, with a crest of 44.5 feet projected for Jan. 28.
