Vicksburg real estate agent William Nettle was appointed to the Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau’s Board of Directors Tuesday by District 3 Supervisor Shawn Jackson.
Nettle is fulfilling the term previously held by Jackson, who resigned from the board after being elected to the Warren County Board of Supervisors.
“I am proud to appoint Mr. Nettle to the Vicksburg Convention and Visitor’s Bureau Board of Directors to serve the balance of my term,” Jackson said. “There were so many talented and active residents of District 3 to consider. The questions were ‘who had the time to dedicate’ and ‘who would make a difference.’ Mr. Nettle has a wonderful track record of being present and adding value across the community. I’m grateful he agreed to serve.”
Nettle also serves on the boards for the Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce and Good Shepherd Community Center and is an active member of Vicksburg Kiwanis, Habitat for Humanity and Vicksburg Optimist Club. He is a member of the Vicksburg-Warren County Jackson State University Alumni Chapter and is a graduate of the Leadership Vicksburg program. Nettle also teaches financial literacy and is a member of the Bypass Church of Christ.
“We are very excited to welcome William to our board of directors,” said Laura Beth Strickland, executive director of Visit Vicksburg. “He is an active member in our community and has shown passion for Vicksburg. We cannot wait to work together to promote our tourism product.”
Nettle joins join Bess Averett, Lori Burke, Patty Cappaert, Katie Feibelman, Willie Glasper, Patricia Hemphill, Leigh Hyland, Trudy James, Myra Logue and Johnny Reynolds as voting board members.
Vicksburg Convention Center Executive Director Annette Kirklin serves as an ex officio board member.
