Robert Archie ‘R.A.’ Logue

Robert Archie “R.A.” Logue passed away on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2020 at Heritage House Retirement Center. He was 85.

R.A. was the son of the late Otto A. Logue Sr. and Nan Williams Logue Black. He was a graduate of Culkin Academy and attended Hinds Jr. College on a football scholarship.

In 1954, R.A. and his wife, Betty Logue, were married. After college, he entered the U.S. Air Force, where he served in nuclear weapons. R.A. and Betty, along with their children, spent four years of his military career in Ramstein, Germany. After 23 years in the military, R.A. retired as a chief master sergeant.

In 1984, R.A. entered his second career as a teacher at Hinds Community College. He instructed high school, college and industrial students in the field of electronics and electrical training, retiring in 2003. R.A. was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Clinton. In his spare time, he was an avid fisherman and gardener.

R.A. was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 62 years, Betty Logue; three grandsons, Zachery Logue, Keith Myers and Blayne Myers; three siblings, Sis Newman, Otto A. Logue Jr., Joyce Atkins.

Survivors include his two daughters, Lynne Logue Myers (Emmitt), Rebecca Logue Carter; one son, Robert “Bob” Logue (Lynn); one sister, Patsy Logue Barnes (Oscar), four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be Friday, Jan. 31 at 11 a.m. at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 1830 Cherry St., with the Rev. Randy Burns and the Rev. Stephen Koenig officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Wounded Warriors or St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

The family would like to thank the staff of Heritage House Retirement Center and fellow residents for their loving care and friendship.
