Charles Lewis Bishop

Charles Lewis Bishop, Sr, 78, a long time resident of Vicksburg, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family Thursday, Feb. 20, 2020.

Mr. Bishop retired as a Chief Boatswain’s Mate from the United States Coast Guard with 20 years of service and was a Captain with the US Army Corps of Engineers for an additional 27 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Ann Bishop, his parents Georgie and Daniel Frank Bishop and his brother James Bishop.

Mr. Bishop is survived by three daughters, Angela (Michael) Praznik of Missouri City, Texas, “Penny” Anna Marie (Richard) Adair of South Lyon, Mich., Caroline (Tim) McKinney, Utica; and two sons. Charles Lewis Bishop Jr. and Brandon Kyle Bishop both of Vicksburg; and one sister, Mary Geana (Lewis) Rollins of Asheville, N.C. He has seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020 at Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be from noon until the hour of the service at 2 p.m.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Vicksburg-Warren Humane Society, 6600 U.S. 61 South, Vicksburg, MS 39180.
