Coronavirus: Mississippi infections grow by 60% overnight

Mississippi State Department of Health officials reported early Wednesday that the number of positive COVID-19 coronavirus cases had jumped again since yesterday by approximately 61 percent.

Thirteen new cases were reported across eight counties. The total number of cases currently reported is 34. As of this morning, the total number of individuals tested stands at 513.

 

In the release, the health department urged residents that in light of the additional cases, “preventive actions become more important for everyone. Avoid large gatherings, keep your distance in public, keep hands clean and stay home if you are sick.”

 

The new cases were found in:

Bolivar County – 2

Coahoma County – 2

DeSoto County – 1

Hancock County – 1

Harrison County – 3

Madison County – 1

Pearl River County – 2

Perry County – 1

Total – 13
