The Mississippi State Department of Health Sunday announced 183 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 1,638. It also announced the number of virus-related deaths had grown to 43.

In Warren County, the number of confirmed cases increased to five. That number is expected to rise in the coming days as more testing is done locally, and results from the state’s one-day test site at Pemberton Square Mall last Tuesday. Officials confirmed 75 tests were conducted at that site.

The statewide shelter-in-place order issued Wednesday by Gov. Tate Reeves went into effect Friday at 5 p.m. Also going into effect at 5 p.m. was a series of additional restrictions announced Thursday by Vicksburg and Warren County officials.
