A California-based discount tool and equipment retailer will soon call Vicksburg home.
Harbor Freight has signed a lease to open a location at Post Plaza, 1601 N. Frontage Rd., Suite F. The property is owned by Action Properties LLC.
Action Properties Executive Vice President David Nichols said construction is underway and the store plans to open to the public in the late 2020 fourth quarter or early 2021 first quarter.
According to its website, Harbor Freight provides “working people with great quality tools at the lowest prices.” The company sells items like hand tools, generators, air and power tools, shop equipment and automotive tools.
The website continues, “Harbor Freight offers more than 7,000 tools and accessories at quality levels that match or exceed competing brands, but at prices that are up to 80 percent less.”
The Vicksburg location will be Harbor Freight’s 15th store in Mississippi. Of the 14 other locations in the state, those in Ridgeland and Pearl are the closest to Vicksburg.
Pablo Diaz, President & CEO of the Vicksburg Warren County Chamber of Commerce, looks forward to having Harbor Freight join the business community.
“The Vicksburg Warren Chamber of Commerce welcomes Harbor Freight to Vicksburg and expresses our congratulations to them for joining our business community,” he said. “At this very challenging moment in our community, it is welcome news to see that businesses continue to believe in the future of our regional economy. We hope that they will be very successful and we will certainly be reaching out to them to support them in the process of getting acquainted with the rest of our businesses and our community in general.”
The unit at 1601 N. Frontage Rd. Suite F was previously occupied by The Vicksburg Post. Vicksburg Newsmedia LLC, which owns and operates The Post, owned Post Plaza until closing on the sale of the building in February to Action Properties.
The Post is moving into new office space in the heart of downtown Vicksburg at 1106 Washington St., but due to COVID-19 social distancing restrictions, the new office has not yet opened to the public. The Post is currently serving customers over the phone and through curbside service at 1601 N. Frontage Rd. Suite E.
