School District’s free meal program extended through mid-July
The Vicksburg Warren School District’s Child Nutrition Office announced Friday it will extend the current free meal service to children in Warren County through mid-July.
Delivery of breakfast and lunch will continue to be delivered by school buses on its current schedule through Friday, May 29 to all children within Warren County ages 18 and under.
The program, which is at no cost to those children receiving the meals, will continue through July 18, but a revised schedule — which is still being finalized — will be announced on or before next Friday.
Due to the Memorial Day holiday, there will not be any meal deliveries on Monday. There will also not be any deliveries or meals available on Friday, July 3 due to the Fourth of July holiday.
The Vicksburg Warren School District began delivering meals to children free of charge on March 18 after schools closed in response to COVID-19. Since then, more than 435,000 meals have been delivered to children in Warren County through the Federal Summer Feeding program.
