Crime reports: Bond set on suspect facing drug charges

Errick Smith, 47, 205 Winters Lane, appeared in Vicksburg Municipal Court Wednesday before Judge Angela Carpenter. 

He has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance and one count of sale of a controlled substance.

Smith’s bond was set at $70,000 and he was bound over to the grand jury.

The Vicksburg Police Department’s NET/Narcotics Division executed a search warrant at Smith’s home Tuesday.

According to a release from the Vicksburg Police Department, investigators executed the warrant shortly after 8 a.m. at the home on Winters Lane as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.

During the search of the home, officers recovered approximately 13.5 grams of crack cocaine and digital scales. The officers also seized $1,167 in cash.

Smith was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

On Tuesday, at 3:16 pm officers responded to Home Depot, 50 Halls Ferry Road, in reference to a shoplifting. The complainant reported someone pushed a basket full of tools totaling $906 out the front door.
