Claiborne County COVID-19 cases level off; Warren County announces new cases

The Mississippi State Department of Health announced Friday three additional COVID-19 cases have been reported in Warren County. The new cases give Warren County 199 reported since early March.

Of those cases, it is estimated that 45 are considered active.

Overall, the state reported 209 cases overnight, bringing the overall total during the pandemic to 16,769. The state also reported nine additional deaths. So far, the state has confirmed 803 virus-related deaths.

In Claiborne County, it appears whatever outbreak in recent weeks led to its case number skyrocketing has leveled off as just one new case was reported Friday. Overall, Claiborne County has reported 116 cases and five virus-related deaths. The county’s total has nearly doubled in the last two weeks.

Yazoo County on Friday reported 298 total cases and five virus-related deaths, while Issaquena continues to be the only county in Mississippi to not yet report a confirmed case.

In Sharkey County, the seven confirmed cases that have long been reported, are likely now presumed recovered.

In Madison Parish, Louisiana Health Department officials reported 121 confirmed cases.
