Vera Mae Washington was born Feb. 3 1946, to Rosie Lee Ferguson and Willie Bass, both of whom preceded her in death.

She attended McIntyre School and Bowman High School. She worked faithfully at Trace Haven Nursing Home for 31 years before retiring on Feb. 1, 2008.

Vera leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Jimmie (Jada) Washington Sr. and Paul (Joann) Washington; two daughters, Deloris Newman and Gloria (Gregory) Smith; three brothers: Joseph (Annie Mae) Washington, James Washington and Willie Williams; sister, Clara Carter; seven grandchildren, Santana Brown, Deanna Robbins, Janaka Washington, Tia Washington, Jimmie Washington Jr., Jalen Washington and William Johnson Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Aaliyah Brown, Remya Robbins, Andrew Clemons Jr. and Anthony Brown Jr. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends to share her memories.
