The 1958 Flashes are often regarded as one of the school’s best teams ever, but in this matchup in the Eagles Region of The Vicksburg Post’s Greatest on the Gridiron tournament they will take on one of their successors.
Led by the running back tandem of George Evans and Eddie Habert — who combined to score 61 touchdowns in their high school careers — the ‘58 Flashes posted the school’s third undefeated record (8-0) in four years. After two close wins over Lexington and Mendenhall to start the season, they had an average margin of victory of 28.5 points over their last six games.

A generation later, the 1975 Flashes had the unique distinction of being the school’s only undefeated team in the 1970s, but did not win the Capital Conference title. Two ties against Raymond and Madison-Ridgeland High School led to a 9-0-2 record and a third-place finish in the league.
The Flashes earned their place in this bracket, however, by posting six shutouts in 11 games and only allowing a total of 51 points.
