The ‘79 Vikings featured a dominating running offense led by Carl Blue. The tailback rushed for 33 touchdowns, a Warren County record that still stands 41 years later. The defense posted eight shutouts in 12 games and only one game was decided by less than 27 points.

The ‘66 Temple squad, meanwhile, won the first of four Black Big 8 Conference championships in five years for the program. With quarterback William Triplett running the offense and future Jackson State legend W.C. Gorden calling the shots as head coach, these Buccaneers were — and are — a force to be reckoned with.

In the Greatest tournament, the ‘66 Buccaneers beat their predecessors 1964 Temple 56-8.

Voting in the second round of the Greatest on the Gridiron tournament will continue until noon on Thursday, July 16.
