WC softball tryouts
Tryouts for Warren Central’s fast-pitch softball team will be held Aug. 11 and 13, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. each day at Warren Central’s softball field.
All new players must attend both days. Returning players only need to attend the tryout session on Aug. 13.
All players should bring a glove, cleats and batting helmet. All players must also have a current physical, concussion form and clearance form.

VSO fall registration
Registration for the Vicksburg Soccer Organization’s fall season is open and will continue until Aug. 15.
There are six leagues for players in the U5 through U12 age divisions, and games will be played at Sports Force Parks on the Mississippi. Practices begin Aug. 31, and games on Sept. 14.
The registration fee for all players is $20. Uniforms are $60, but VSO uniforms from previous seasons can be used. The league will follow the COVID-19 social distancing guidelines outlined by the Mississippi Soccer Association.

WC basketball tryouts
Tryouts for Warren Central’s ninth-grade and varsity boys basketball teams will be held Aug. 15-17 at Warren Central Junior High.
The tryouts are from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Aug. 15; from 4 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 16; and 5 to 7 p.m. on Aug. 17.
All players must have completed physical, concussion and clearance forms, which are available online at vwsd.org. Players must also bring their own bottle of water and towel.
YMCA flag football
Registration for the Vicksburg YMCA’s 2020 flag football season will continue until Sept. 1. The league is open to players in kindergarten through sixth grade, and will be broken up into several age divisions.
The registration fee is $50 for YMCA members and $70 for non-members. Parents can register their children at the Purks YMCA, online at vicksburgymca.com, or by calling 601-638-1071.
17 Futures baseball
Sports Force Parks on the Mississippi will host the 17 Baseball Futures all-star showcase Aug. 8 and 9. The tournament is for individual players ages 7-14. The cost is $175 per player, and there is a three-game guarantee.
