Robert E. Barnes

Graveside services for Robert E. Barnes, 69,  who died Friday, July 31, at his residence will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020, at Rohelia Cemetery with Rev. Adrian Clark officiating. Due to recent events affecting the nation, only 20 people will be allowed to attend the graveside service, however, a public visitation will be held Friday, from1 to 5 p.m. at the Thompson Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Barnes was a member of Rohelia M.B. Church. He worked as a driller offshore for over 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mamie Barnes Clark; a son, Eric Richardson; grandson, Jalen Currie; brother, Booker T. Barnes; and sister, Patricia A. Moore.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Williams Barnes, of Vicksburg; two sons, Antione Harper of Byram, and Terrance Currie of Jackson; four daughters, Felecia Barnes of Jackson, Kimberly Currie and Erica Barnes, both of Utica, and Robbie Barnes of Brandon; a step-daughter, Mernevie Mitchell of Vicksburg; a brother, Charles Taylor of Pontiac, Mich.: six sisters, Maxine Barnes and Catherine Barnes both of Utica, Cindy Thomas of Jackson, Allison Marbra of Hinesville, Ga., Dorothy Taylor of Milwaukee, Wisc.; 17 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relative and friends.
