The latest in a string of drug-related arrests at a Vicksburg convenience store came Wednesday with the arrest of Vicksburg resident Melvin Cox.

Cox was arrested Wednesday on a warrant for sale of cocaine issued by the Vicksburg Police Department’s Narcotics/Net Team. The department said in a release that his arrest “is the result from operations conducted to deter the sale of illegal drugs” at the Fastway Smoke Break, 1217 Cherry St.

Cox appeared in Vicksburg Municipal Court Thursday before Judge Angela Carpenter, who set Cox’s bond at $40,000 and bound his case over to the grand jury.
