Charles William “Bill” Dorman

Charles William “Bill” Dorman, 77, passed away at his home in Rocky Springs on Sunday, August 16, 2020, after a long illness. He leaves many grieving family members and lifelong friends.

Bill attended Vickburg Public schools and graduated from Cooper High School in Vicksburg. He also attended Hinds Junior College. He worked for 33 years at Waterways Experiment Station and retired in 1997. He was known for his amazing memory and his colorful humor and wit telling of events in his life.

He was an avid, intense sports fan following SEC, especially Ole Miss football, Saints football and Braves baseball. He attended every men’s baseball College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska since 1990.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Margaret Dorman.

He leaves behind his wife, Betty; his daughter, Cissi Malpass (Scott) of Clinton; two stepsons, Kenny Raner (Kate) of Rocky Springs and Kevin Raner (Jennifer) of Sumrall.

He also leaves eight grandchildren, Brantley and Bryson Malpass, Clinton, Hayes, Will, and Jace Raner of Sumrall, Crystal Johnson (Jeffrey) of Clinton, Kimberly Rose (Holden) of Las Vegas, Nev., Christopher Raner of Vicksburg; and one great-grandchild, Gunner Johnson of Clinton.

A memorial service because of the COVID virus is planned for a later date.
