Warren Central remains No. 5 in Class 6A poll

Warren Central firmed up its spot among Mississippi’s top high school football teams in the latest Associated Press poll released Tuesday.

The Vikings maintained their No. 5 ranking in Class 6A, and were one of only six teams to receive votes in balloting among eight Mississippi media outlets.

Starkville remained No. 1 in Class 6A. Oak Grove and South Panola swapped the Nos. 2 and 3 spots, and Madison Central was fourth.

Warren Central was just outside the Overall Top 10, finishing 11th in the voting. Starkville was No. 1, followed by South Panola, Oak Grove, West Point, Madison Central, West Jones, Madison-Ridgeland Academy, Oxford, Picayune and Neshoba Central.

Other top-ranked teams in their respective classifications were Nanih Waiya in Class 1A; Taylorsville in Class 2A; Jefferson Davis County in 3A; Corinth in 4A; and West Point in 5A.

All of the No. 1 teams remained the same as last week.
