Water service along portions of North Washington Street was interrupted late Wednesday into Thursday as crews worked on the next phase of the 529 Waterline Project.

The project — which is a partnership with the city of Vicksburg and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers — is installing an auxiliary main water line in the city. The work Wednesday was completed by the crews with ESG Operations, the contractor for the city’s water treatment facility, and Hemphill Construction.

The line runs along North Washington Street, from the treatment facility to downtown Vicksburg.

During the interruption, crews installed an additional 30-inch main water line isolation valve. Water was restored early Thursday morning.
