Saturday evening fire damages home on Sherwood Drive
An early evening fire damaged the kitchen of a home at 126 Sherwood Drive Saturday.
Vicksburg Fire Chief Craig Danczyk said the fire call was dispatched by Vicksburg-Warren 911 about 5:58 p.m.
He said he was first on the scene, saw smoke and located the fire in the kitchen. Capt. Daryl Carson with Engine 2 and Capt. Ricky Martin with Engine 8 arrived right behind him and began an attack on the fire, which was extinguished.
Besides Engines 2 and 8, Danczyk said Ladder 3, Battalion 1 Chief Henry Williams, rescue and Ambulance 20 also responded. No one was at home when the fire started and no one was injured.
“Everyone did a very good job,” Danczyk said, adding firefighters were in the process of getting the smoke out of the home.
