Ed Herring, Warren County District 1 Supervisor, discussed the state of Warren County during a recent meeting of The Vicksburg Kiwanis Club.

He said that while COVID certainly dealt us a blow, our community and business leaders helped navigate the challenges and we did not suffer nearly as much as many areas did.

Other areas of discussion included the new jail, ongoing long-term problems, housing and the need to teach young people about the promise of Vicksburg.

He stated that the new jail is in the design phase, and they want to finance it with minimum impact on taxpayers.

The supervisors have worked to resolve some long-term problems, including paving several gravel roads.

He discussed the problem with available housing and would like to be able to help builders develop more subdivisions which should reduce the number of people who work in Warren
County but live outside the county.

He also encouraged everyone in attendance to educate our youth so they understand the opportunities available to them locally.
