She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, two brothers and three spouses, John P. Conn, Sr., James Renfroe and Mel Kellicut.

Inez worked at Sears for 33 years. She was a devoted believer in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church.

As John and Mike were growing up, she faithfully took them to church at Bowmar Avenue Baptist.

Inez was known in her church family and community for her baking skills and servant’s heart.

She baked countless fresh apple cakes — everyone’s favorite — for funerals, celebrations and church cake sales.

She was a dearly loved “Nanny” to four grandchildren: Michelle Potts (Chris) of Woodville, AL; Ashley Conn Gentry (Phil) of Aliceville, AL; Ali Brainerd (Michael) of Sandy Springs, GA; and Aimee Conn of Montgomery, AL. She traveled often to visit them —even as far as California and Germany — and went to great lengths to nurture a close relationship with each of them. She loved her five stepchildren: Minnie Margaret Renfroe Covington, Jimmy Renfroe, Jerry Renfroe, Cathy Kellicut and Michael Kellicut and was also a proud great-grandmother to eight children.

A graveside service will be held on Dec. 11 at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery at 11 a.m.

Directed by Riles Funeral Home, Pastor Bill Wright of Trinity Baptist Church will preside.

Rest in peace, Nanny. We miss you already.
