Public invited to help survey bald eagles at Arkabutla Lake

Published 1:32 pm Tuesday, December 12, 2023

The public is invited to take part in the annual survey of bald eagles at Arkabutla Lake in January.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District announced that the survey will take place from 7 to 11 a.m. on Jan. 6, 2024.

The Bald Eagle Survey provides an opportunity for participants to assist in monitoring the status of bald eagle wintering populations and distribution data. The survey helps by identifying key bald eagle resources when access to open water is most restricted at Arkabutla Lake. Scouting new eagle nests also provides the opportunity to obtain future data.
