William ‘Billy’ Riddle

William “Billy” Riddle entered eternal life on his 80th birthday on Dec. 8, 2023, at Merit Health River Region Hospital in Vicksburg.

Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

He enjoyed being an active member of the St. Aloysius High School community and coaching his kids and their friends in youth sports including football, soccer, baseball and softball. He was an avid football fan supporting the Ole Miss Rebels and New Orleans Saints.

Billy was the youngest of 11 children born and raised in Vicksburg where he attended St. Aloysius High School, graduating in 1962.

He attended Hinds Community College. He was a lifelong faithful member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude A. and Mary Elizabeth Riddle; his brothers, Mike Riddle, Donnie Riddle, Albert Riddle and James Salmon; and sisters, Rita Evans, Anne Mahoney, Bettie Rooks, Pat Middleton and Barbara Cesare.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Shirley Riddle; his son, Tim Holder; his two daughters, Nancy Pitra (Joe) and Christine Bridges (Bryan); his five grandchildren, William Holder, Molly Pitra, Liam Pitra, Blaine Bridges and Gray Bridges; and one sister, Margaret Bucci. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Amedisys Home Health for their care and attendance. Their love and care will always be appreciated.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 14, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Church with visitation on Wednesday, Dec. 13, from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Fisher-Riles Funeral Home, 5000 Indiana Av.e, Vicksburg. His final resting place will be the Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dunaway Rooks, Mike Franco, Kevin Mahoney, Rusty Haydel, Bert Winschel, Jimmy Salmon, Michael Evans and Bobby Middleton.
