St. Al’s McCloud wins The Post’s Athlete of the Week award

Anthony McCloud is on Cloud Nine as the latest Vicksburg Post Athlete of the Week.

The St. Aloysius basketball player received 442 of the 757 votes cast in an online poll of The Post’s readers to earn this week’s award.

McCloud was a runaway winner, nearly tripling the 144 votes received by Porter’s Chapel Academy basketball player and runner-up Jae’la Smith. Vicksburg High soccer player Kennedy Mullins finished third, with 119 votes, and Warren Central bowler Avery Green was fourth with 52.

McCloud, a junior, averaged 16 points, 5 rebounds and 2 steals to help St. Al’s boys’ basketball team win two of its three games last week.

McCloud scored 18 points in wins over Riverfield Academy and Benton Academy, and had 12 points and 6 rebounds in a loss to Greenville Christian.

McCloud is the second St. Aloysius athlete in a row to win The Athlete of the Week award this season.
