Fire destroyed the Jamison home (also known as the Gamble Home) on Mundy Street. • David Allen Pugh celebrated his first birthday. • The Rev. B.E. Lewis died.

After two years of renovation, the old Downtown Motor Inn reopened as the Days Inn Downtown. • Thomas Truly died. • Rex Pierce IV celebrated his fourth birthday.
