A fugitive from Copiah County managed to elude Warren County sheriff’s deputies for several hours before being arrested Dec. 22 on Jeffers Hollows Road.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said Copiah County authorities notified Warren County on Dec. 21 that John Skipworth, who is originally from Warren County, was wanted for felony eluding and assault on a police officer and was in the Warren County area.

Pace said deputies spotted Skipworth in the 4500 block of Halls Ferry Road. He ran into a nearby wooded area. Deputies searched for Skipworth, who managed to avoid being caught until his arrest by deputy Johnny Beauchamp about 6:50 a.m. on Dec. 22 on Jeffers Hollow Road.
