The new Vicksburg Animal Shelter is coming along, and the estimated completion date is January 2024.

The Friends of the City of Vicksburg Animal Shelter are blessed to have been gifted the building by Mr. Earnest Thomas and are thankful that the City held to its promise to give the animals of Vicksburg a better animal shelter.

This shelter will provide a more efficient use of space, better quality of life for the animals, will be disease resistant, easier to clean and safer for the staff.

The Shelter’s current kennels are dated and not efficient.

Therefore, The Friends of the City of Vicksburg Animal Shelter’s goal is to purchase new kennels with the help and support of area residents.

The kennels that are most needed will be for the cat rooms. These kennels are incredibly expensive and approximately 38 of them are needed.

The approximate cost of each kennel is $3,000.

The Friends of the City of Vicksburg Animal Shelter are reaching out to the community for your support to make this facility one that the city can be proud of and is a place where animals will be safely cared for.

The Friends of the City of Vicksburg Animal Shelter is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization, so any donation is a tax-deductible gift to support the new shelter.

Donors, who contribute $500 or more will be recognized on a plaque at the new facility. For the love of animals, let’s make this happen.
