Juanita Martin returned to Seoul, Korea, where she was employed with the Department of Defense. • The Mississippi River was at its lowest level since 1940, negative 5.8 feet.

Louie Williamson was recuperating from major surgery. • Victor Bobb, who was famous for his walking sticks, gave a stick to Charles A. Franck, vice president of Marathon LeTourneau Marine Division.

Thomas Pete Buford and Tamie Kathleen Forbes applied for a marriage license. • Lindsey Susan McBroom was one today.

Bad weather kept work on two bridges on Tiffentown Road from being finished. • Contractor Hunter Fordice was appointed to a five-year term on the Vicksburg Tallulah Regional Airport Board.
