Lady Vikes win Saturday soccer matinee against Loyd Star

Warren Central’s soccer teams ended their annual holiday hiatus and got back to work on Saturday.

Jordan Polk had a goal and an assist to lead Warren Central to a 3-2 victory over Loyd Star in the girls’ half of a doubleheader.

Brooke Steed and Rachel Opperman also scored one goal each, and keeper Hayleigh Simmons made six saves.

In the boys’ game, Tyler Godshaw scored in the 78th minute oto give Warren Central a 2-2 tie with Loyd Star.

Luke Bond had other goal for the Vikings (9-4-1), in the 63rd minute. Laney Lewis assisted on both goals, and keeper Colby Solomon made six saves.

Warren Central played its first game since Dec. 21. It will jump back into the Region 2-6A schedule with a road trip to Neshoba Central Tuesday at 5:30 p.m.
