PCA picks up pair of wins against Union Christian

The Porter’s Chapel Academy Lady Eagles were slowed down a bit, but not stopped on Thursday.

Lauren Madison had a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds, and the Lady Eagles beat Union Christian 37-20 for their ninth consecutive victory to start the season.

Madison scored eight points in the fourth quarter as PCA outscored Union Christian 13-4 to pull away.

Sophie Masterson had eight points and six rebounds for PCA (9-0), and Audrey Carraway scored four points.

PCA’s scheduled home game vs. Prairie View Academy on Friday was postponed because of the threat of severe weather. PCA will instead travel to Prairie View on Jan. 20, and their game at Prairie View on Jan. 26 will be played in Vicksburg.

Porter’s Chapel 76, Union Christian 33
Ty Mack totaled 28 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals to lead Porter’s Chapel Academy (8-3) to an easy win over Union Christian in the boys’ half of Thursday’s doubleheader.

Gavin White scored 14 of his 30 points in the second quarter to spur the Eagles to a hot start. They scored 27 points in the first quarter and led 49-25 at halftime. As a team, PCA shot 59.2 percent (29-for-49) from the field and made 11 3-pointers.

White made five 3-pointers and was 12-for-20 shooting overall. His 30 points were a season high.

Taylor Labarre also had a balanced game, with 13 points, eight assists, seven steals and four rebounds.
