Robert Clarence Woodman

Robert Clarence Woodman, age 88, of Petal, Miss., died Oct. 22, 2023, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Robert was born Nov. 19, 1934, in Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Woodman; mother, Genevieve Whites Woodman Johnson; stepfather, Roy Johnson; sister, Betty Woodman Smith; and brother, Ronald Johnson.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carolyn Woodman; sons, Robert (Raeanne) and Randall (Carol); brother, Rodney Johnson; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Robert served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953-1956.

He worked as an engineer for Sunbeam’s Northern Electric Company division for 28 years, earning a patent for improvements to homemade ice cream makers.

Robert loved music and sang bass in the choir at Main Street Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, where he was a member for many years.

His whole life was devoted to learning and self-improvement, and in keeping with that devotion, he donated his body to medical science at his death.

A memorial service was held on Sat., Jan. 13, at Main Street Baptist Church.
