- Balloons with a "feel better" message blow from the roof of a vehicle in Sunday's parade of support for Vicksburg Alderman Michael Mayfield (Blake Bell | The Vicksburg Post).
Vicksburg Alderman Michael Mayfield saw just how much he means to his community Sunday, as a line of cars gathered at Greater Grove Street Missionary Baptist Church to show him support amid a recent health diagnosis.
Cars stretched around street corners as far as the eye could see as the line crept by Mayfield on Alcorn Drive, where he waved from the roadside, expressing his thanks for the show of love.
Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) Deputy Chief Mike Bryant said the gesture was a show of well-wishes for the alderman and included local residents, as well as members of VPD, Vicksburg Fire Department, and a number of other city departments.
