VGSA softball registration
Registration for the Vicksburg Girls Softball Association’s 2024 spring season is now open and will continue until Feb. 5. There are five divisions for players ages 4-16, and the registration fee is $60 per player.
Teams will form in mid-February, practices begin Feb. 26, and the season on March 18. Registration forms are available at 601 Sports, or on the VGSA’s Facebook page.

Legends Softball meeting
The Sandlot Legends 8U softball team will hold a meeting for players and parents interested in joining for the 2024 spring tournament season. The meeting will be on Monday, Jan. 22, at 6 p.m. at The Sandlot, 3422 Wisconsin Ave., in Vicksburg.

Red Carpet Bowl scholarships
Applications are now being accepted for the 2024 Red Carpet Bowl scholarships. Several $750 scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors in the Class of 2024 at Porter’s Chapel Academy, St. Aloysius, Vicksburg High and Warren Central.
Applicants must fill out a form that includes extracurricular activities and other information, attach an unofficial transcript, and write a 500-word essay.
The deadline to apply is March 5, 2024.

Laces for Love Run
The inaugural Laces for Love run is scheduled for Feb. 10 in downtown Vicksburg. The event will include 5K and 10K runs, a 5-kilometer race walk, and a 1-mile children’s fun run.
The race will begin at 8 a.m. in front of Key City Brewery and Milano’s Restaurant on Washington Street, and follow a course through the downtown area. An after-party will follow in the parking lot adjacent to the start-finish line.
The registration fee is $30 for the 5K events, $35 for the 10K run, or $15 for the fun run. After Jan. 1, the registration fees increase by $5 each. Online registration is available through raceroster.com.

ECCC softball fundraiser
The East Central Community College softball team is conducting an online fundraiser to raise money for new uniforms, equipment, and other expenses. To donate, visit this link.
The players on East Central’s roster include Warren Central alum Kayleigh Karel, a freshman outfielder.
Co-Lin baseball events
Copiah-Lincoln Community College will host its 2024 Winter Showcase on Saturday, Jan. 20, at Sullivan Field on its campus in Wesson. The showcase is open to all high school players in the 2024 through 2027 graduating classes.
