Vicksburg Main Street’s first Second Saturday event of 2024 slipped in just before this week’s winter weather and brought with it a combination of music and art.

Saturday, musician and songwriter Ralph Miller set up shop at the Crawford Street Stage in downtown Vicksburg, performing a free concert.

The Second Saturday event is a series of unique, free events and activities in downtown Vicksburg. It is a volunteer-led effort supported by the Vicksburg-Warren County Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Program and Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Saturday afternoon, from 1 until 2:30 p.m. at Catfish Row Museum, local artist Kate Hamel Tucker was on hand to teach printmaking. While Saturday’s class was geared toward adults, Tucker, owner of Owl House Designs in Mound, La., will be returning to the museum for a kids’ class Sat., Jan. 20. The class will also run from 1 until 2:30 p.m. and is designed to give parents an opportunity to learn alongside their children. Tucker recommends participants wear old clothes and bring t-shirts for their prints.

The next class will take place at the museum’s location at 913 Washington Street. For more information on the class, emails may be sent to info@catfishrowmuseum. Calls may be directed to the museum at 601-738-5679.
