2 Vicksburg men arrested for Wednesday shooting

Two local men are behind bars in connection with a shooting Wednesday that sent a 17-year-old to the hospital.

Officials with Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) said 18-year-old Zaylen Lane and 17-year-old Alonzo Curtis III, both of Vicksburg, were arrested Wednesday and charged with aggravated assault in connection with the shooting that took place at approximately 2 p.m. in the 100 block of Alcorn Drive.

According to VPD, the victim was initially transported by private vehicle to Merit Health River Region Medical Center before being airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center for treatment. He is reported to be in stable condition.

Lane and Curtis appeared before Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court Thursday. Both men were bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury on bonds of $650,000.
