Voting is now open in The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week contest.

This week’s nominees are Warren Central tennis player Lilli Feibelman; St. Aloysius track athlete Samantha Edwards; and baseball players Chase Hearn (Porter’s Chapel) and J.T. McDaniel (Tallulah Academy). Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline.

Lilli Feibelman, a member of Warren Central’s tennis team, won three matches to lead the Vikings to three team victories last week. Feibelman won singles matches against Natchez and Columbus, and teamed with Sydney Sullivan to win a girls doubles match vs. Morton. She lost a total of three games in six sets.

Chase Hearn, a senior infielder and pitcher, led Porter’s Chapel Academy’s baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of Hillcrest Christian on March 7. Hearn went 3-for-6 with six RBIs and three runs scored in the two games. He also pitched a three-inning no-hitter, with seven strikeouts, in a 17-0 victory in game two.

Samantha Edwards, a junior distance runner with St. Aloysius’ track team, won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs events at the season-opening Generals Relays meet on March 6. She posted a time of 2 minutes, 33.45 seconds in the 800 meters; 5:39.01 in the 1,600; and 12:12.49 in the 3,200.

J.T. McDaniel, a freshman with Tallulah Academy’s baseball team, threw a no-hitter in a 9-0 victory over Briarfield on March 7. McDaniel had 14 strikeouts and did not walk a batter. He also went 4-for-6 at the plate, with two doubles, two RBIs and five runs scored in two games last week.

Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline. The winner will be announced Wednesday on vicksburgpost.com and then be featured in our Friday print edition.
