St. Aloysius’ baseball team struggled at the plate for five innings, then was unstoppable in the last two.

Keller Bradley went 4-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, Pierson Smith doubled twice and drove in three runs, and the Flashes scored all of their runs in the last two innings as they defeated Prairie View Academy 12-7 on Monday.

St. Al (4-6) erased a 5-0 deficit with its late surge. It still trailed 6-2 entering the top of the seventh inning, then erupted for 10 runs — the last nine of which were scored with two outs.

After Carson Smith brought in a run with a ground out to cut it to 7-3, 11 consecutive batters reached base for the Flashes. Bradley, the seventh person in that chain, hit a bases-clearing double to put them ahead 10-7.

Bradley later scored on an error, and a hit batter with the bases loaded brought in another run. Pierson Smith also hit a two-run double and Walt Andrews an RBI single during the inning.

It was the second game in a row in which St. Al has scored the winning run in the seventh inning. It had a walk-off victory against Park Place on March 7.

St. Al will be back in action Tuesday at 5 p.m., when it goes across town to play Vicksburg High at VHS’ Showers Field.

Quitman 13, Vicksburg 3
Jaleil Cameron had seven strikeouts in five innings pitched, and also went 2-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored at the plate to lead Quitman past Vicksburg High (3-8) on Monday.

Patten Shirley was 2-for-4 with a triple, RBI and three runs scored for Quitman, which scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to blow open a close game.

Kealon Bass hit a solo home run in the third inning for Vicksburg, while Kaleb Doss drove in one run and scored another.

The Gators will host St. Aloysius Tuesday at 5 p.m., then are off until playing Ridgeland at home on March 19 in their MHSAA Region 2-6A opener.

Brandon 10, Warren Central 3
Jay McQueen singled in the go-ahead run in the fourth inning to snap a 2-2 tie, and Brandon scored in each of the last four innings to beat Warren Central (4-6).

McQueen finished 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs for Brandon (7-6), Xavier Myles was 3-for-4 with a double and one RBI, and Cam Keyes hit a solo home run. Walker Hooks had three RBIs.

Ryan Nelson doubled, walked twice and scored two runs for Warren Central, which lost for the third time in four games. Cade Fairley, Maddox Lynch and Conner Watkins each had one RBI.

Warren Central used seven pitchers — one in each inning — to keep its arms fresh for a very busy spring break week. Monday’s game was the first of six in a six-day span.

The Vikings will head to the Mississippi Gulf Coast to play in the Battle at the Beach tournament, a massive 10-day event that features nearly 70 teams — including WC and Porter’s Chapel Academy — from six states.

The Vikings face Pearl River Central and Long Beach on Thursday at Long Beach High School, at 3 and 7 p.m., respectively; Texas’ Fort Worth Southwest Christian at Biloxi High School on Friday at 12:30 p.m.; and Gulfport Friday at 6 p.m. at MGM Park, the home of the Double-A Biloxi Shuckers.

On Saturday, the Vikings return to Long Beach High School for one more game, at 12:30 p.m. vs. Briarcrest Christian from Tennessee.
