Nick Anderson’s football career will restart north of the border.

The former Vicksburg High and Tulane linebacker signed a free agent contract with the Canadian Football League’s Edmonton Elks, the team announced Monday.

Anderson played four seasons at Tulane, from 2019-22, and totaled 275 tackles and 10.5 sacks. He was part of the Green Wave team that finished the 2022 season ranked No. 9 in the country after defeating Southern California and Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams in the Cotton Bowl.

Anderson signed with the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent following the 2023 NFL draft. He played in all three preseason games and totaled eight tackles, but was released by the team at the end of the preseason.

Anderson did not sign with another NFL team in 2023. He instead focused on several business ventures, included a podcast called “Talkin’ That Yea” and a company centered around the community outreach work he’s been doing for years.

The CFL season begins in May.
