St. Aloysius didn’t need any seventh-inning magic this time. In fact, they didn’t need the seventh inning — or the sixth — at all.

The Flashes cranked out 10 hits, and Laken Bradley and Carson Smith each drove in three runs and scored three more, as St. Al routed Adams County Christian School 16-3 on Tuesday.

St. Al (6-6, 1-0 MAIS District 4-5A) stretched its winning streak to four games in a row. It scored the winning run in the seventh inning in the first three, but this one ended in five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.

After ACCS took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning, St. Al sent 11 batters to the plate and scored eight runs in the bottom half. Bradley and Damien Reeves each had an RBI single, but the real damage was done through three walks, two hit batters and an error.

The Flashes added four more runs in the third inning — Bradley hit a two-run double and scored on a single by Smith — and another four runs in the fourth to take a 16-1 lead.

Bradley and Smith both finished 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored. Keller Bradley doubled, scored two runs and drove in two, and Walt Andrews was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Pierson Smith also had a single, walked twice, and drove in two runs.

St. Al and ACCS will play again Friday in Natchez. The junior varsity will play at 4 p.m., and the varsity at 6.

Ridgeland 16, Vicksburg 0
Chase Maldonado went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, and Ridgeland (8-6) breezed past Vicksburg High (3-11) in the MHSAA Region 2-6A opener for both teams.

Parker Ishee pitched a five-inning no-hitter. He walked three batters and struck out seven, and only needed 62 pitches to get through the game.

Evan Stewart walked twice and scored twice for Ridgeland, and Isiah McClenty was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored. The Titans scored multiple runs in all five innings as they steadily pulled away to a run-rule victory.

Vicksburg committed eight errors. Pitcher Chris Green allowed 11 runs in four innings, but only one was earned. He had five strikeouts.

The Gators lost their sixth game in a row. They’ll get another crack at the Titans on Friday, when the teams play at Ridgeland.

Tallulah Academy 8, Tensas Academy 0

J.T. McDaniel locked down Tensas Academy with another outstanding pitching performance, and Tallulah Academy swept an MAIS District 3-2A doubleheader from Tensas Academy.

McDaniel allowed one hit and no walks in five innings as Tallulah won game one, 8-0. McDaniel had nine strikeouts as well. In his last five outings, McDaniel has allowed one run and struck out 32 batters in 18 2/3 innings.

Gage Palmer was 1-for-2 with two RBIs, four stolen bases and two runs scored for the Trojans (11-5, 2-0 District 3-2A). Denton Ray also had two hits and two RBIs.

In game two, Palmer hit a go-ahead single in the third inning to spark a four-run rally as the Trojans finished the sweep with a 6-1 victory.

Tripp Gayle followed Palmer’s hit with with another RBI single and later stole home to put the Trojans ahead 5-1.

Luke Moberley and Hayes Hopkins each had two hits and scored two runs for Tallulah.

Palmer finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs. He also pitched a five-inning complete game, allowing one run on two hits. He walked three batters and struck out eight.

Tallulah and Tensas will complete their three-game single series Friday at 3 p.m. in St. Joseph, Louisiana.
