Local pickleball players win gold at Mississippi Senior Games

Four local pickleball players earned the right to call themselves state champions at the Mississippi Senior Games.

Vicksburg residents Dinah Lazor, Nellie Hopkins and Jim Chaney, and Raymond’s Bob Mullins all won gold medals at the annual competition held March 16 and 17 in Biloxi.

Lazor and Hopkins teamed up to win the 70-75-year-olds’ women’s doubles championship in the 3.0 skill level division.

Hopkins and Mullins won the mixed doubles gold medal in the 70-75-year-olds’ 3.0 level tournament.

Chaney and Mullins, meanwhile, won the 70-75-year-olds’ men’s doubles championship at the 3.0 level.

All three doubles teams qualified for the 2025 National Senior Olympics, which will be held in Des Moines, Iowa, next summer.
