2024 All-County Basketball: The Vicksburg Post’s All-County girls’ basketball team

Marley Bufkin/Porter’s Chapel, Jr. — Reliable scoring guard averaged 7.0 points, 2.1 assists and 2.0 steals per game
Rodrianna Hall/Vicksburg, Sr. — Moved from shooting guard to point guard and averaged 9 points per game
Shamaria Hodge/Warren Central, Jr. — Junior forward averaged 7 points and 5 rebounds per game for the Lady Vikes
Kierra James/Vicksburg, Sr. — Senior forward averaged 13 points and 7 rebounds per game for the Missy Gators
Cynia Johnson/Vicksburg, Jr. — MHSAA all-star was close to a double-double every night, with 10 points and 9 rebounds per game
Taryn Lusby/St. Aloysius, So. — Lady Flashes’ leading scorer dropped in 6.2 points per game
Lauren Madison/Porter’s Chapel, Sr. — MAIS all-star was an excellent inside presence, with 11.0 points and 9.2 rebounds per game
Sophie Masterson/Porter’s Chapel, Sr. — Good post player and outside shooter averaged 8.7 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game
Maddy McSherry/St. Aloysius, Sr. — Averaged 4.9 points per game for the Lady Flashes
At the end of each high school season, The Vicksburg Post selects the top local athletes in a number of sports for its All-County teams.
Ten players were selected for the 2023 girls’ All-County basketball team, led by Player of the Year Jae’la Smith of Porter’s Chapel Academy.
Smith, a senior point guard, made the All-MAIS Class 3A team and led the Lady Eagles to a 20-2 record. She averaged 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 5.4 steals per game and had three triple-doubles.
Smith has signed with Pearl River Community College.
The other All-County players represented their schools — Vicksburg, Warren Central, St. Aloysius and Porter’s Chapel Academy — well. Congratulations to all!
