Vicksburg’s Shaniyah Walker is The Post’s Athlete of the Week

Shaniyah Walker crossed the finish line first as the latest Vicksburg Post Athlete of the Week.

The Vicksburg High track athlete received a late push from her supporters to receive 1,086 of the 2,077 votes cast in an online poll of The Post’s readers.

St. Aloysius baseball player Clark Hobson finished second, with 704 votes. Warren Central track athlete Kylie Hearn was third, with 243 votes, and Porter’s Chapel Academy baseball player Gavin White was fourth with 62 votes.

Walker, a senior sprinter, won the girls’ 400 meters and the 4×400 meter relay at the Meridian High School Invitational on March 18. Walker had a time of 1:01.48 in the 400 meters, and the 4×400 relay won in 4:41.
