Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) is reaching out to the public for help identifying suspects involved in a shooting Saturday morning at Jacques’ Bar on Levee Street.

According to information released by VPD, shots were fired at the bar Saturday at approximately 1 a.m. striking several vehicles in the parking lot. VPD said officers found “a large number of shell casings” in the parking lot following the incident, adding the casings came from “various types of guns.”

“A description given of possible suspect vehicles involved were a black Chevy Tahoe and a red Camaro,” VPD officials said. “The possible Tahoe SUV that left the scene was seen heading east on Clay (Street) at a high rate of speed. The officers lost sight of the vehicle after a pursuit from Clay Street to Highway 27.”

Jacques’ owners and the City of Vicksburg have been involved in lawsuits and other legal proceedings for a number of years over the city’s attempts to shut down the bar in response to multiple instances of gunfire and violence at its location at 1320 Levee Street.
