De’Keither Stamps was recently the speaker at the Kiwanis Club of Vicksburg.

Stamps is the central district commissioner for the Mississippi Public Service Commission. He explained that the three current commissioners work together very well.

Their meetings seldom last over 45 minutes, he said. They try to set an example for others by showing how everyone benefits when they work toward common goals.

The commission is responsible for regulating utilities such as gas and electricity.

Stamps said they are key to economic development, as they ensure that industrial parks will have sufficient energy available for the businesses that are located in the areas.

Having those businesses means more jobs and even more growth opportunities, he said.

Stamps thanked Kiwanis of Vicksburg for its commitment to area children and helping them prepare to be successful in their lives.
