100 Years Ago: 1924

Mrs. Jack Frost tendered a charming bridge luncheon to Mrs. T.C. Carter. • Supervisor Tom Mackey, who was ill, showed no new improvement. • Tom Mulligan, who was ill was able to get out.

William Hogabroom joined the Marine Corps. • J.M. Blackburn died. • “The Ghost Parade,” was presented by the seniors of Culkin Academy. • Nelson Barfield was visiting his family in Anguilla.

80 Years Ago: 1944

Frank E. Shannahan Jr. was now stationed at Camp Claiborne in Louisiana. • Bishop Duncan Gray was the guest speaker at the Kiwanis Club. • Susie Cooley was here from New Orleans.

70 Years Ago: 1954

Jack Terrell died. • Mrs. Joe Maggio was a patient at Mercy Hospital. • Capt. and Mrs. Robert Cornell Jr. announced the birth of their son, Douglas.

60 Years Ago: 1964

Mary Hogabroom died. • 76 children received their First Holy Communion at St. Paul Catholic Church. • Dilliard Calvin died. • Josie Tanner passed away.

50 Years Ago: 1974

Rita Rena Scott celebrated her sixth birthday. • Mr. and Mrs. Ray Sanderson wrote of a serious leaking problem in the auditorium of the Redwood School. • Carmel Signa III received a certificate for completing a field study course on the operation of water treatment plants. 

40 Years Ago: 1984

Dr. James A. Kiely died at the age of 73. • Amy Lee Buford celebrated her second birthday. • Bobby Ray, Margaret Alexander Griffith, 30-month-old Thomas and 4-year-old Pete prepared for the first Warren County Cystic Fibrosis benefit walk. 

30 Years Ago: 1994

Former Miss America Debbye Turner spoke to students at Alcorn State University. • Time ran out for convention center proponents who were working to reach a compromise on a tax proposal to present to the legislature this year.

20 Years Ago: 2004

The Warren County Board of Supervisors took two road requests under advisement.

10 Years Ago: 2014

Crawford Street Choir was to perform a Resurrection drama. • Vikings got by Greenville in a baseball rematch.
