Miss Mississippi tennis
The Miss Mississippi Tennis Tournament will be held April 13 at the Halls Ferry Park courts. The event is a fundraiser for the Miss Mississippi Corporation.
There will be men’s, women’s and mixed doubles brackets in nine skill divisions from 3.0 to 4.0 and up. The entry fee is $45. Online registration is available at this link.
Vicksburg Elite raffle
The Vicksburg Elite 9U boys baseball tournament team is holding a fundraiser to raffle off a pair of one-carat diamond stud earrings donated by Magnolia Jewelers.
The tickets are $10 apiece, and are on sale until the drawing on May 3. They can be purchased through the team’s Venmo account, @Vicksburg-Elite-Baseball.
Proceeds from the raffle will help pay for the team’s travel costs to play this summer, including a world series tournament in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Clear Creek junior golf
Clear Creek Golf Course has announced it is starting a new junior golf program at its facility in Bovina.
The program has three age groups. Children ages 4-8 will have lessons on Mondays; ages 9-13 on Tuesdays; and ages 13-18 on Wednesdays. Each lesson runs from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The fee is $80 per month for the youngest age group, and $100 for the others.
Activities will include developmental drills, skill challenges, team-based games and friendly competitions. Water and range balls will be provided for all ages, and golf clubs will be provided for the 4-8-year-olds’ group.
Lessons will be taught by Clear Creek’s PGA professional Ronny Ross, and pro golfer Joseph Dendy. The program will run during the school year.

Carson Kurtz Memorial
The Carson Kurtz Memorial 4Ball golf tournament will be held May 4-5 at Clear Creek Golf Course and Vicksburg Country Club. The entry fee is $400 per two-person team and includes lunch and beverages both days. There will be a Saturday night Calcutta with dinner and music.
The tournament will be at Clear Creek on May 4 and the Country Club on May 5. Proceeds benefit a scholarship fund honoring Warren Central and St. Aloysius soccer player Carson Kurtz, who died in 2019.

Chillin’ in the Hills
Registration is now open for the 15th annual Chillin’ in the Hills 5K run and race walk.
The race is scheduled for Saturday, May 11 at 8 a.m. It begins and ends at Martin’s at Midtown, 1101 Belmont St., and follows a course through downtown Vicksburg.
The registration fee for the 5K run and 5K race walk is $25. The children’s 1-mile fun run is free. Online registration is available through raceroster.com. For more information, call Laura Jones at 601-636-5703 or email her at gracecc@live.com.
The Chillin’ in the Hills 5K is a fundraiser for Grace Christian Counseling Center, which provides low-cost mental health and counseling services for individuals, families and groups in the Vicksburg area.
Ergon Charity Golf Tournament
The inaugural Ergon Refining, Inc., Charity Golf Tournament is scheduled for May 16 at Clear Creek Golf Couse. The four-person scramble will begin at noon, with check-in starting at 10 a.m. and lunch at 11.
There are prizes for the winners of each of three flights, as well as for longest drive and closest to the hole. All proceeds from the tournament benefit Good Shepherd Community Center and Preschool.

Core Mississippi Magic AAU Basketball
The Core Mississippi Magic AAU basketball program is hosting tryouts for it’s boys’ and girls’ youth travel teams. Tryouts are hosted throughout March and April and are available only by sign up and invitation. To sign up, call 601-301-2090 for more information.
