Miss Mississippi Pickleball Tournament champs crowned

More than 60 players competed in the inaugural Miss Mississippi Pickleball Tournament Saturday at Halls Ferry Park.

The event was a fundraiser for the Miss Mississippi Corporation, and the first of its two consecutive weekend events at the park. The organization will hold a tennis tournament this Saturday, April 13.

The pickleball tournament was a mixed doubles event split into five groups based on skill level. Group winners were:

• Merged 4.0 and 4.5 level — Grace Crosby and Braden Spiller in first place; Amy Rollins and James Crosby in second place; and Kathryn Southall and Shane Bridges in third.

• 3.5 level Group 1 — Juliet Parker and Gregrey Hall in first place; Kellye Stec and David Stec in second place; and Katelyn Hanneke and Matthew Clair in third.

• 3.5 level Group 2 — Teresa Turner and Michael Turner in first place; Gail Rhett and Glenn Rhett in second place; and Linda Diane Smith and Thomas Little in third place.

• 3.0 level — Mindy Giambrone and Joe Giambrone in first place; Tracy Turner and Rick Vessell in second; and Shelby Miller and Riggs Ware in third.

• 2.5 level — Deena Ferguson and Craig Fergusonin first place; Amy Bednar and Joshua Welch in second place; and Donna Burris and Ray Bottin in third place.
