A Vicksburg man has become the second suspect taken into custody by Vicksburg Police Department (VPD) in connection with a shooting on Elizabeth Circle earlier this month.
According to information from VPD, 18-year-old Derrian Brown was arrested Monday on warrants for aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit a crime, both in relation to the April 7 shooting.
VPD said the charges “are the result of an attempted shooting of an individual in Elizabeth Circle.”
Thursday, 17-year-old Jaylen Demarcus Moore was taken into custody and also charged with aggravated assault and conspiracy to commit a crime in connection with the incident.
VPD initially responded to a call of shots fired at 5:09 p.m. in the Elizabeth Circle area, where witnesses said three Black males shot at another Black male in an open area behind homes located on the street. No injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.
Moore appeared before Judge Angela Carpenter in Vicksburg Municipal Court Friday, where his bond was set at $150,000 and he was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury.
Brown appeared before Carpenter Tuesday and also saw his bond set at $150,000. He was bound over to the Warren County Grand Jury.
VPD said more arrests are anticipated in this case.
