Vicksburg’s Mullins is The Post’s Athlete of the Week

Kennedy Mullins only lost one game in the MHSAA Region 2-6A tennis tournament, and barely lost a vote in The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week contest.

Mullins, a junior at Vicksburg High, received 1,456 of the 3,346 votes cast in an online poll of The Post’s readers to claim this week’s award.

St. Aloysius tennis player Hendrix Eldridge finished second, with 934 votes. Tallulah Academy baseball player Luke Moberley came in third, with 561 votes, and Warren Central baseball player Cade Fairley was fourth with 463.

Mullins won the MHSAA Region 2-6A girls’ singles tennis championship on April 12. Mullins only dropped one game in two matches and advanced to the Class 6A tournament, which will be held April 23 and 24 at Halls Ferry Park.
